The government has lifted restrictions on travel abroad for people whose relatives died or went missing while participating in the ATO. This was reported on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Ministry of Veterans.
– Citizens liable for military service who are not subject to conscription during mobilization, whose close relatives died or went missing with direct participation in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO), will be able to cross the state border of Ukraine during the period of martial law, – said in a press release from the departments .
Changes to the rules for crossing the state border by citizens of Ukraine were made at a government meeting on August 11. This was done in order to avoid unfair restriction of the rights of family members of persons killed or missing with direct participation in the ATO, the Cabinet added. The government noted that this applies to hostilities from the beginning of Russia’s armed aggression in 2014 to April 30, 2018, that is, until the reformation of the ATO into the JFO .
– Today, the Government lifted the restriction of the right to cross the state border during the period of martial law by persons whose relatives died or went missing while participating in the ATO. Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine started in 2014 and was restarted on February 24, 2022 with a massive invasion. Therefore, we must avoid the unfair division of both the Ukrainian defenders themselves – participants in military and special events, and the rights of members of the families of fallen soldiers, – said the Minister for Veterans Affairs of Ukraine Yulia Laputina.
According to the current version of the rules, during martial law, persons liable for military service who are not subject to conscription during mobilization, whose close relatives died or went missing while participating in hostilities in Donetsk and Lugansk regions from April 30, have the right to cross the state border. 2018 and during the hostilities in Ukraine since February 24, 2022. This did not apply to citizens liable for military service who were not subject to conscription during mobilization, whose close relatives died or went missing with direct participation in the ATO.
Former adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Vadym Denisenko proposed, after the victory, to limit the travel of men abroad for another three years.
